Starting 520m above sea level at the Rocklands Station covered yards, you will climb up the Old Dunstan Road to the Logan Burn (920m), a distance of about 7km. Now the fun starts on the Burgan track, a farmed access track with creek crossings. The track winds down the end of the Rock and Pillars and finishes on the corner of Kidds Road and Gladbrook Road on the Strath Taieri Valley floor.

A short gravel road section leads you then onto another farm track at Kelvin Grove, along to the Big Rock and across paddocks to rejoin the tarseal at the top of Browns Road and a downhill sprint to the finish at the Middlemarch Community Centre.

In 2015 a group of mixed age and experience took part on a grey and misty day. Times ranged from 2 - 4 hours on slippery down hill.

All of this happens in the beautiful mountains at Dunedin's back door. It happens in an area renowned for its climate extremes, so riders need to be prepared. It also happens in an area unspoiled by modern technology so do not rely on your phone to get assistance.

This ride happens in a part of our country that we think is pretty special.

We hope you will enjoy the ride and look forward to seeing you on 30 January 2016!
